I am currently working on new a book that chronicles the lives of Blacks who bypassed the Great Migration to build home and family in the South.
This spring, I’ll be giving some talks related to this latest project, as well as to my first book, Words of Witness (University of Wisconsin Press, 2016).

I am also teaching two upper-division undergraduate course this spring, Beyoncé's New South Aesthetics. which is related to my current research on southern regional identity, and Reporting Civil Rights.
